Ashoka has a very special Prabhava. The Sanskrit word Shoka means grief and A means No. So, the name itself gives us the clue that Ashoka can negate the vibrations of grief when they affect our emotional heart. Just like insects attracted to light, the bugs of grief are attracted to the light of our soul called Sattwa. Ashoka has that unique ability to dissolve those negative feelings thereby removing the dark clouds from our emotions.
It Pacifies all 3 doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. From a Pranic point of view it is very Somagenic meaning it increases the cooling, lubricating and alkalizing lunar energy.
As a result, it pacifies Trisha or thirst and is good for rehydration. This is because one of its Prabhavas is called Grahi which means absorbing or rehydrating.
Increasing Soma always results in better immunity. So, Ashoka can eliminate Krimis or pathological bacteria because it is bacteriostatic. That means it supports the immune system thereby creating an inhospitable environment for bad bacteria.
Because Soma is alkalizing, Ashoka is very good for the Probiotics because it maintains the alkaline colon pH in which the friendly bacteria need to thrive.
It also has a tranquillizing effect on the nerves and therefore is used in painful vata disorders.
It supports the female hormonal system.
